Subject: FIFA World Cup 2014 Simulation

2014-05-27 14:45:45
Morsey [del] to All
Hello,

Similar to our Euro 2012 simulation, we plan to make a simulation of the matches for the Brasil 2014 FIFA World Cup. The simulation is purely for fun and promotional purposes (posting a link and discussing our simulation in the internet community may attract new users to register). However to help us do this we need your help in creating the skill distributions for each player in each country.

We already have the 32 teams created and they are gathered in the following league;
http://online.sokker.org/league/leagueID/52487

========================

Creating The Players

The majority of staff members (Tutors excluded) will be able to edit the squads for each country but we will need your help in deciding the proportions of skills assigned for the players.

Each player is created based on skill proportions and their Transfermarkt.de value. For each skill parameter, we are able to select a value from -3 to +3 (where -3 indicates a weakness, and +3 indicates a strength). This does not mean that selecting -3 will mean players will be tragic for a particular skill, however it will be proportionally lower than a value specified as +3. The Transfermarkt value is used to scale these proportions, meaning all players will start with a default level of skill depending on their Transfermarkt value. We have assumed that the players are not as specialized as Sokker players therefore the skills should not differ drastically between players.

For each of the following skills, we will be able to give -3 to +3 depending on how each player performs for that particular skill (for example, a defender would not realistically have +3 scoring).

Goalkeeper Skills
Keeping, Pace and Passing

Outfield Player Skills
Pace, Technique, Passing, Defender, Playmaker and Scoring.

Here is an example of how you might assign the -3/+3 skills for a player:

Ryan Giggs:
Pace: -1, Technique: +2, Passing: +2, Defender: 0, Playmaker: +2, Scoring: +1

Using this information and the players Transfermarkt value, Sokker will then produce a player with the skills based on the player’s weaknesses and strengths.

========================

Please feel free to make topics to discuss the squads of your country, however please try and be objective when you discuss the values of the players for your country for your team.

These websites may or may not be helpful to you;

Enjoy :)

NOTE: Please remember when entering the Transfermarkt values, that you enter the correct valuation in Euros (if you change the language to view the website then the valuations may change to a different currency)

Fantastic :)

I guess that a lot of us must be following, and have such a deep knowledge of ALL the leagues, teams and players of ALL the World, that we could make in no time a perfect, proporcionated, and FAIR comparative of ALL the players participating in the WC.

Also, I guess that out DEVs must have such an excellent knowledge of current football dynamics and the ways of implementing it in a ME, that undobtely the simulated matches will offer to eveyone interesting, realistic and logical matches.

Unfortunately, I have neither such knowledge to contribute, not the least conviction about DEVs being capable of something remotely near to that feat, so I guess (know) I will PASS on this nonsense "simulation".

If only DEVs would commit only a LITTLE fraction of the time dedicated to these "simulations" to enhance/fix things in SOKKER (that is the real game I am here for)...

But I understand there may be also people (DEVs amongst them, maybe?) who are in Sokker only to see these "simulations", so I guess it must be ok that they also can have their "fun"...

Fantastic :(

The simulation coding is most likely the same that was used for the Euro 2012 so i don't think too much time would be 'wasted'. The World Cup only comes around every so often, so we should enjoy it while its here :)

Indeed :) and it is funny, which is also important for a game.

last time nobody cared about the games because the whole event was performed so poorly, that it drew away any attention...

also it should be used for promotion...

but this is sokker, so what am I expecting:)

+1

Totally Pointless.

Unfortunatly the promotion part is not used at all. 2 years it was somekind of contest if I remember correctly, but no promotion activity this time. It's a pity.

Then it is pointless.

are the teams ready yet? :)
2014-06-12 20:33:11

2014-06-12 20:37:58
Yes it was simulated last night;

Brazil 4:2 Croatia
2014-06-12 20:38:47
where can we find the simulated games?

and what's the point in simulating games if nobody knows about it...

The friendly league simulation link should be on the news of most countries, and also in the first post of this thread. Also on the login page;
http://www.sokker.org/logon.php

If you scroll down a little there is a box with the Brasil Simulation links within it.

Come on, Bosnia is way unreal in a negative manner, some players are underrated, some have pretty weird skills for their position, we need a topic before tonight's sim.

Who made the lineup for France vs Honduras simulation because Valbuena as centre-forward, it's véry funny !
