Subject: FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 (Draw results)

Norway being in the top pot is just ridiculous. There is something wrong with the system they use to determine the ranking. The system Sasha proposes is more fair.

You are absolutely right when you say that top players already play number of matches that are beyond their sustainable human capacities but this is what clubs make of them. And that is exactly what I am talking about here. The problem lays within dehumanised greedy profit-oriented clubs. National teams are a last resort of true sport. It is an utter shame that football within Olympic Games has become what it is today and it happened exactly because of pushing players over their limits.

Champions League is great but to me it is 2 classes of thrill below the World Cup or European Championship or Olympic Games. And increasing qualifying groups from 5-6 to 7-8 means only 2 matches or 1(!?) week per year more in favour of national teams. Currently national teams have 6 weeks per year while clubs have 40!? What the hell are we talking about here?

I agree. Norway is no way a top seed. And this is exactly because there is too few national team matches during the year to be able to determine rankings more precisely than what we have at the moment. And then you have 2 matches with San Marino and 2 matches with Kazakhstan. There is not enough matches to make a real competitive difference. So, luck becomes a very important factor especially when you draw qualifying groups.
norway has a good friendly and euro 2012 qualifying results. perhaps that's why their rank move up a lot.. :)

for asian qualifier, after the 1-1 result in away match, indonesia manage to beat turkmenistan 4-3 at home

i'm pretty glad with the drawing result for indonesia. we've beat bahrain and qatar before, so only with iran that we haven't got a nice result with. that and the problem of lack VO2 MAX will be indonesia's biggest problem for this world cup qualifying games to move up for the second stage of group qualifier..

the main candidates from asia are japan, south korea, australia and north korea :)

I didn't expect Serbia...so,there won't be Serbian supporters in Croatia and opposite or there will be a lot of mess...

Yes, I don't like when we play against them. It's never only about sports and it should be only that.
Maybe some point reduction for Croatia and Serbia can help Belgium :p

For my country I'm not happy because Morocco will have strong matchs against Ivory Cost and we know what mean Ivory Cost in Football but also Morocco has great team and players young and talented, and we have very good trainer, so I hope to get the ticket to the Brazil..

Less international friendly matches, more qualifiers :P
2011-07-31 20:22:16
But when is it possible to schedule more matches during a season?

Actually, additional matches are already scheduled: that's how the 10-team group in South Maerica fits the FIFA calendar. And even South American teams play friendly games in some FIFA dates as the WC qualifiers don't use up the whole calendar. In the current system, European teams play even more friendlies, as less dates are used for WC qualifiers. It seems reasonable to keep the maximum number of matches as it is now, but why not to replace some friendlies with more attractive, competitive matches? :D
And if the reason to play more official matches is that groups get bigger, then those matches would be interesting ones, as more decent teams would be grouped together. As it is now, Euro teams spend 2 years playing Feroe Islands 99% of the time, then the lucky ones play a serious tournament, and then another 2 years of matches against San Marino (with all due respect to the heroic Feroe/San Marino players :D). We were lucky to have France in pot 2 this time, but at the expense of an absurd seed system (which rendered some groups unwatchable from a neutral point of view :P)

I'm not even sure if I will support Poland. At the moment I'm 50-50...as it's not really Poland :/

We've got Obraniak, born in France, whose granddad was Polish - ok, he is fine...
Boenisch and Polanski - both of them said in tv and press that Germany is all that matters, they will only play for Germany. They played in the u21 etc. teams for Germany. Now it became obvious that they won't make it to the senior NT...so they've decided to play for Poland.
Our coach wants 2 more French defenders and one Columbian. So awesome.

I remember how many people laughed at Germany with their players with Turkish origin [and they were all born in Germany]. I can only imagine how much will people laugh at Poland...
2011-07-31 21:44:37
you mean laugh with racist slogans? :p
2011-07-31 21:51:54
it wont be new for you, afaik olisadebe wasnt born in warsaw:)
2011-07-31 22:02:39
It was one player who's been in Poland for many years, learnt Polish, had a Polish wife, Polish kids...

Now it might even be 4/5 foreigners...:/

4-5 players mean you have serious problem but that wont help you too.
