Uriah [del] to All
Welcome,

Sokker is one of the best browser-based sports management games around. It's one of a very few of its type that displays full matches in real time and has an extremely polished training system. As far as this kind of game is concerned you will not find more satisfying gameplay anywhere else, nothing beats training a player from youth to experience and watching them develop in real time in matches that matter for your team. But this game can be complicated, especially at first, so the US community is sending out some useful links to help out new users.

But first, we have set up a mentor program for new users who would like to have an established player give them more hands-on guidance. To ask for a mentor you can contact the tutor or post a request HERE.

At the moment the tutor has not been setup, contact Uriah directly with questions or a mentor request.

my one suggestion would be at the end, instead of "or post a request in one of the forums." it should be specific, like "or visit the Newbie USA forum and post a request in the 'New Manager Mentor Sign-Up' thread." of course you would then also need to make said 'New Manager Mentor Sign-Up' thread (or whatever you want to call it) in the newbie forum

right, that's a good idea.

i don't think that the first statement a new user should see should be a negative comment about the confusing interface. maybe something like "here's a quick and helpful guide to get your team started and answer any questions you may have" or something of that nature. you want to win them over...understate the flaws, and make them want to stay. think like we're selling the product of sokker to them.

think like we're selling the product of sokker to them.

We are selling the product

edit: Sokker manager is outdated, I don't recommend it.

I agree with canyoudigit489. when I first read the 'poor documentation and confusing interface (while TOTALLY TRUE) I that is somewhat of a turnoff.
maybe
Sokker is one of the best online games around, but like most games the rules are sometimes vague as they can not cover every fine point. To help with this, the USA community decided..........

Uriah, thanks for taking the lead on this!
2011-01-08 08:49:41
yeah that is a good point, I'll just cut out the whole negative comment, they'll find out about the interface on their own.
2011-01-08 09:01:47
ok I changed that first paragraph totally, it's still completely true but a lot more positive.

edit: took off Sokker Manager link, can't even load it without my antivirus wanting to wet its pants, and I added a link to the Mentor Request thread I started in this forum.

There is an old useful thread in the sokker usa forum. I'll go find it and bump it, there may be something in there we can use.
2011-01-09 20:01:37
I'm just going to link to that whole thing with the caveat that some of it may be out of date.

that is more or less a reproduction of the auto-message sent by sokker (that may or may not be sent automatically, I don't remember getting one when I started but that was a while ago).

I didn't fix the hyperlinks, maybe later.

I'll make thread for this and link to it, as the gifs are useful, and maybe somebody someday can iron out the translation a bit.

ok, I sent it out to everybody that's signed up since xmas. now that all the heavy lifting is done this should be easy, just copy/paste.

anymore ideas for revisions or additions just let me know.
