Subject: Junior school... is it really worth it?

2011-01-04 20:06:27
I've had the YS for 6-7 seasons so I've invested maybe around 7-8 M in it. On my stats page I show 6.5 M in profits from my juniors' sales + I have 3 of them on my team now. I think I am breaking even or getting a small profit. And there is always a chance of getting a "supertalent".

I'd say if you can afford it, run the school.

**that figure doesnt factor in that you may have trained those jrs AFTER they have left your school for a few seasons. if you had a big sale but had trained the guy after you pulled him it throws it off

just sayin

true, but that's very few and my cost estimate is very rough. I still claim I break even or slightly better. Whether I was lucky with my junior draws or just the average I don't know...

Your $6.5M in profits is also not just from Juniors that came from your junior school. It includes total sales from players that you buy and sell on the transfer market. I've had nice profits also, $10M (currently), but I'd say that only 20% of that is only from home grown players.

I don't think so. I took it from the page that lists only my own juniors (including the ones that I kept) and their sale prices. The net income from all my TL buys and sells is on another page.

I checked your team and you have about $10M net income from all TL transactions (as you say) but on another page you have $6.9M from sales of your juniors. It's much more than the 20% you estimated. Looks like you underestimate the effects of your YS.

This juniors statistics is a new thing they added around Christmas and maybe not everybody is aware of that.

i think he's talking about the "statistic" that is on the Team Home Page where SK gives the list of every Junior player from your team, and the total of your sales from those players

this is my junior sales but i have been around a while.

·Sum: 70 610 331 $

by the way i only train my junior players, i don't buy trainees.

I stand corrected, I never realized that all that chump change added up. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I'm still in the Red though, but, it's not nearly as bad as I had thought.

I might not be so down on the junior academy if it wasn't a total crapshoot.

Check out the profits from the Blues Brothers academy:

It's sickening!

Those numbers do not include the future sales of Dunivant, Coleman, Worthen, or Milliard, which probably adds up to about an additional $10M.

I was just looking at my own stats and noticed how long it took before I really started producing anything out of my youth school. Very few the first couple real life years, I guess mine would be a good example of it taking years to pay off. I've actually made more cash than Blues Brothers, I never would of guessed that.

I'm fairly certain it does not include the amount you get for selling off players before 23 as well. It also includes players you sold off when you first got your team.

the point that i brought up earlier, which i dont think you understood because you are still wanting to count dunivant coleman and worthen, is that much of the total sum for the academy in that statistics page CANNOT be attributed to the youth squad, but to the many trainings recieved AFTER the player graduated from the squad in managers normal senior squad weekly training before selling. confusing this point will lead one to believe youth squads are more productive than they actually are based on the total sum on the stats page

for example from blues, sherlock covey just sold a few weeks ago for 1.5M but recieved almost a years worth of regular team training. had he been sold right after he was pulled (which the profit would only then be fully given to his youth squad) maybe he would have only sold for a few hundred thousand. but the full 1.5M was counted in that statistics page number

Slammy, I understand what you are saying, I just happen to be pointing out the additional value (if you are lucky) a Junior School can provide by spitting out players that can be kept and trained.
