I am curious how many of you have played this game at any high level? Played a little? How many of you have never struck a ball in a real game?

I played in high school. Then everyone else grew, and I didn't.

I started playing when I was 12 and continued until I graduated from college. I did play in a city league several years after college, but was really out of shape. Now, I satisfy my soccer longings by juggling the ball by myself or kicking it back and forth with my kids.

What school Vovo?

I played at USC way back in the day, but we were a club at that time. I still play now, but only because it was never close to my best sport and it is still a challenge for me try and be better (plus it is easy to find games in Florida year round).

Its a local community college... Hartnell College. They actually lost the state final last year against Mt. Something lol.

Right now I'm attending Sacramento State University and they suck more than my local community college Lol

I played pickup games at some local fields for a large part of my twenties, it's not my best sport but I started to get pretty good in my late 20s...

I like it more than basketball which I was really good at just because I kept getting in fights playing pickup basketball, the ratio of pricks to cool guys is a lot higher with basketball than it is with soccer in my experience.

I haven't played in like 5 years now since the police started cracking down on "unlicensed" field use. Theirs only 1 field where we can play now within a 10 minute drive of my house and it has no goals, horrible grass and usually 30 guys minimum every day trying to play 1 game. You're lucky if you touch the ball once every 5 minutes.

Many moons ago, I wanted to play soccer in high school, but my school did not have a team. I tried to start one, but everyone I knew, including faculty, talked me out of it. Ironically, they started a team two years after I graduated.

My university had a soccer club team, but I did not play then because I always took too many credits to do anything other than study.

A couple decades later, I had to stop playing softball because I blew out my throwing arm. Bored and feeling sorry for myself, I watched the World Cup and realized that I did not need a throwing arm to play soccer. Then, after watching Fox Soccer Channel for a few weeks, I bought my first soccer ball and started training by myself for the next several years because there are no adult leagues where I live.

Eventually I found an adult soccer league in a town 50 miles away, and for one glorious summer, I played every week for a team of fellow O30s, both outdoor and indoor, and enjoyed every wheezing, coughing minute of it. Although I had never been coached in my life, I had watched enough soccer on TV, read enough books and practiced enough on my own to have more good moments than bad. I may be old, but I am slow, and I became a master of the offside trap (if I do say so myself). :]

Since then, I have played random pick-up games in the park once in a while, but nothing organized, which is what I really miss.

Now, I play Sokker.
