Exactly

Well, that's what a project manager does, isn't it.
2016-07-11 16:28:43
When you're hired by a company as a project manager then yes, you manage the project of other employees.

But when you're starting your own project you should not expect to have volunteers that will do most of the work for you.

He's not a project manager, he's the owner.

He said it's a Sokker 2, nothing really new, so the development has been abandoned early (in Sokker style)

Cevap & borkos007

The wheels are spinning but they are spinning pretty slow. There is no deadline for this project right now,
since we started by looking if there is any interest before we put in working hours beside our regular job.

After that, we started by looking at our IRL connections for coders, trying to find a team here (And that has been the hard part). We are 2 guys now, one graphic/front-end designer and one motion designer/animator.

One third guy who is going to take care of the economy part of the game is on-hold, he is interested but wants us to get further in the process.

To gather a team before and during the summer is pretty hard as you can imagine. And finding so many skilled coders IRL are even harder. (Remote coders are more easy, but there is more of a high risk for the project to fail).

It is not our intention to create a game and use other people doing it for free, anyone dedicating the time that we will do will take a equal share of the project. I have helped others to develop their products for years, during many years i got used, so i would never put other people in the same situation.

To create a game, you need more than only coders, they are part of a team. We will need:

Project manager
Front-end/ graphic designer
Back-end dev
DB & Security dev
Maintenance & support
Unity game engine dev
Motion designer
User experience (great skill that Sokker is missing and is failing).
and more..

We can cover the project management, design, motion, marketing and packaging of the game. But we are looking all the time for developing partners. And we are coming in contact with new ones thanks to our IRL jobs.

For example, two different web development companies are moving close to our office during this summer. We are not in a hurry, because i care a big deal for this game that i really want to happen, therefore i have big expectations from those who will join. I did try it before, and everyone who promised didnt put in any hours.

We will make a good game, and for that i will not rush! The interested people are signed up, so we will not loose contact with each other.

If we are going to make it for real, then it has to be really good. Dont worry, its about to find a great team rather than "not wanting to do it".

I ask Patience, and hopefully we will return after the summer with more updates. You will get to know me more, and maybe you will notice a problem of mine, when stuff goes slower at work, its because i want it to be perfect =)

My regards

But you do realise that you're creating a project that won't bring the whole team a lot of money? It might not bring any money at all. Have you checked the market that you're going to compete in? It's pretty much dead.

I will write about it once again.

http://www.footballstrategy.org

Similar project to what you're proposing. Well made, has some good ideas, has active owners that listen to the community, has a great 3D match engine.

Still, after ~3 years of being active they have reached 540 active users. And that's basically what you can expect for your project. In other words, I don't see the point in wasting time for it.

People who like(d) this kind of games are now 25+. They have jobs, families and they already spent their playing time.

I can give you my example. I spent a lot of time at sokker, I loved the game and I got attached to my team.

Now...I don't care about new games, even if they are similar to sokker. I just don't see the point in starting from zero, building a new team etc. For me it's pointless.

Another thing is that the new generation [10-16] doesn't want to play such outdated games like sokker - and I mean the fact that it's a browser-based, low-paced game that takes a lot of time, thinking, strategy etc. to succeed.

Kids nowadays play on their mobiles and tablets. They expect instant gratification and action, not waiting 7 days for a match.

From where I stand, I see that you're trying to start another project that will be an empty shell without users. So my question is: who are you making this game for? For current sokker.org users? They already have sokker.org and a couple of sokker-clones available to play. SK users don't care for other games, if they did, they would be already playing football-strategy. They aren't.

Borkos has a good point. Thats why I proposed the FS developers to make a second paralel game: FS 2.0

In FS 2.0 the game would be less serious/complex and more fast paced, and also pay to win. I mean, they can use the same ME and the same stuff, but instead of waiting 7 days for a league match, they could do 1 game per day or 1 game every 2 days, so that seasons would last 2 or 3 weeks max. Simplify the economy and dont make countries, but a big world league with different divisions (like sundayleague.com) with a max number of teams per league/world. After the first league/world is filled, they can create a second world/league (like games such as Ikariam or Imperia Online), and so on, so this way new users can feel motivated to play and be the best (and even pay money for it) on the newly created world/league. I gave a more detailed explanation but you get my point.

At the same time, the original FS game, the current normal paced and complex game, stays as it is for people who prefer a non pay to win and more strategic long term game. In other words, a more mature game compared to the 2.0.

The point is that games that are fast paced tend to bring more youngsters and more people would spend money on them, make it a bit "pay to win", and keep the original FS as it is. The money that FS 2.0 (pay to win) would bring can be used to help develop and improve both games FS and FS 2.0 even more.

Of course, both need to be mobile and tablet friendly. Most people play games now on their mobiles and tablets.

I gave a more detailed explanation but received no answer.

Exactly. If you want to make profit, you make a new generation game. Old generation managers can be a hobby for small group of users, nothing more.
2016-07-13 20:07:57
Im not going to make a old generation game, i have done my research, its has a new touch. And it will attract enough people!
Just keep hoping that i will find a dev-team. Otherwise, i just have to work my ass off, to be able to invest in it my self and pay coders abroad (more risky as i mentioned before, and takes more time for me).

So it won't be a sokker-like game at all.

It could be, league games on wednesdayand sunday, cup games friday, the rest are friendly games. Speedint things up some more. Training updates 2 times a week with more drops and pops. Diversifies things a bit while still staying true to the roots.

after i played some games on internet, all kind, from battlefield 4 to forge of empires, something hit me, it's an industry of billions...all games are meant to eat money, some are not even real games the only purpose is to put your money and time in that game, all games are fakes...sokker is cheap entertainment, i don't say it's correct but at least is cheap
