a midfielder with defending is much more useful than one with striking, unless that mid with high striking is used as a striker
r u really sure?

Show me one that played in the mid section and has scored 10 -15 goals per season....at a high level, not like some 3-4 division

How many of those goals scored by Pacalici were actually against 65-70 mark teams, 2xdivine defenders ( where he played in the middle, not advanced midfielder or on a strikers position ).....

I'll stay on my ideas, midfielders job is to give assists, strikers to score goals...

Of course, would be great to have a midfielder with both defending and striking , but unless that mid doesn't have 5xdivine, I wouldn't even think about switching the training to striker

A matter of ideal positioning. Pacalici played next to 2 strikers in 523 tactic and it worked. Back in days I had pelszyk who was att but unearthly passing and high pm and def and he played great.

Pacalici was 26 when entered ekstraklasa..already scored a lot and assist a lot in 2nd league which is still strong and he was 24-25 at that time.

Of course if you put him mainly as a cm his striking is more like useless but with offensive position ( i think 3 players in front) great off mid is unique. Thats why luissel and barbez wont be any special..as a matter of fact 1-2 more in superdivine skills than my zielezinski I paid 10 mln:).

Pacalici played next to 2 strikers in 523 tactic

even a midfielder without 15 striker can score a decent amount of goals if played advanced, right next to the strikers...i`ve seen mids with 10 att that have scored against divine keeper...
i`m talking about a winger or an off midfielder that dribbled 3-4 players and scored goals

so basically , Pacalici was a striker with really high sideskills that was played with a mid order...

dont get me wrong, midfielders with high striking are more likely to score goals than the ones without striking, but how more uselful can they be compared to ones that have defending...i would never sacrifice defending over striking....i would rather have a mid that can recover the ball from the opponent 10-15 times a game than a midfielder with high ATT that cannot do shit when the ball is not in the team possesion, but can score 1 goal every 2 games...

In long term scoring % will not be that much unless you have weak team and play with handicup:)

But players like barbez or luissel still will have high def:) . You can end with unearthly def/pm/pass and switch to striking..it would be good for pace/tech to be divine at this point.

Hm..to be honest I almost agree with you lol..but I would start striking training like 1.5 of season before 5xdivine

He won't be played as an off mid, for me def pace combo is also for the rest of my team, while it isn't good anymore :) Plan will be to reach 5 divine, after that i do not know, depends on the rest off the team :)

Let us say i'll buy a decent striker, that sounds better :)

but how more uselful can they be compared to ones that have defending..

i wonder how many of his defenders were at least 2xdivine...we`re talking about a world class midfielder against some average defenders...i wanna see these kind of players against a top notch team, not some 60 mark team...

I'm definitely with Spin on this one... Higher defender is more valuable imho.

First of all, players with high PM and mid order would rarely shoot on goal if they are playing alongside "pure" striker. Second, difference in realization percentage is not that high between incredible and divine striker skill that it wouldn't be neutralized by few extra possessions divine over incredible def would provide (especially if that possessions are coming from challenging opponent defenders). So even if You compare that players as off mids exclusively, i wouldn't say that higher striker is more useful than higher def. On the other hand, having higher defender provides much more tactical options and makes that player more immune to low form.

Sure, if You have great fond of players (speaking about NT of countries with 200+ users) having a striker with amazing secondaries could be of great benefit but if You have to chose a one of that two types of players as a building point for Your team, I'll take one with divine def over one with divine striker every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
