Subject: »Sokker Manager Premium (2.1)

2006-08-18 22:59:26
Sokker Manager Version 2.1 has been released and is available via the Sokker Manager Home Page

The only system requirement is that you need Windows XP-SP2. The runtime engine may be installed for users without Microsoft Access.

Sokker Manager is currently English-only. However, one of the enhancements to the 2.1 release is that it automatically switches your language temporarily to english for the data download and match loading process.

Description of current functionality:
- Player and Junior summaries with sorting capability, color-coding skill increase/decrease
- Calculates training (what was trained, and how effectively for each player), pops, talent of the player (weeks trained / pops) - the most accurate calculation of talent available (takes into account match minutes and position)
- Downloads player data AND match data
- Has dynamic, modifiable graphs of player and junior skills, showing increases
- Player detail display including training, current skills, # pops, shows best and average match rating for each position, etc. Can scroll through all of the loaded weeks.
- Automatic generation of detailed and formatted Player Posting (with or without "bbcode" so it can be posted on a Sokker ad or mailed/messaged
- Reports: Player pops, Training Detail, Training Weekly Analysis
- Player Match performance graphs for each position
- Currency Converter

Specific enhancements to the 2.1 release include:
- Significant usability enhancements for new players (automatic default of data path, automatic change of language setting) and improvement of error messages
- Added button to support sorting on junior summary and player summary for runtime users
- Added Currency Converter
- Enhanced posting to give option for bbcode formatting or not (ie suitable for an email or messenger)
- Improved navigation button logic
- Fixed Calendar Dates
- Added version comparison and automatic database upgrading logic
- Fixed Schweiz_ (extra space)
- Fixed shooting mixup on match report Home vs Away

To install the upgrade, follow the instructions on the page.

Basically, to do the upgrade you'll be downloading a zip and overwriting the existing applicatin (Sokker Manager.mdb).

To download the full version, you'll install both the sokker manager.mdb file and sokker manager data.mdb file.

You only have to do the runtime if you do not have Access 2003 on your machine and if you have not done already installed it (upgrade doesn't need).

I am still looking for someone who speaks fluent polish and english to help with a translation

Also, if anyone who's good at web design feels like helping me out, the sokker manager home page is pretty weak. I'd like to put some images in there too of some of the main screens (i'll create the images since my database has like 5 months of data in it).

Anyone feel like helping who is good at web design? SK-mail me :)

I can make a dutch version if you want...

I'm gonna do polish first. It's not like some of the manager tools where there's not a lot of text, there's much more in this one than most.

Thanks tho.

For version 3, i'm gonna do a lineup creator and change the player detail screen to use tabs for the skills graph, match graph, training history, etc.

Any other suggestions for v3?

and on win ME too please

Sorry, but to support old old platforms i'd have to remove some of the functionality, and i don't want to do that.

sold and retired players? with profit/loss?
2006-08-21 21:47:38
it's in there, you have to enter the amount of the sale manually tho, but you can always access your old players. There's an Inactive Players (or juniors) button that lists them.

oh! I don't see..

and a stadium calculator?
2006-08-21 21:59:57
There's no such thing here, the stadium equations aren't well known at all.

the upgrade version crashes on me with this error:

'C:\documents and settings\weberb\my documents\bmw\sokker manager\sokker manager data.mdb' is no proper path.

/edit
you did not let the application open the data file from current directory but hardcoded it :(

/edit2
I created that folder and put my old data file there.
tha app looks for an mdb file, but our files are mde so upgrading will never succeed (if I rename it to mdb it tells me version is -1)

1) Nothing is hardcoded. It is my path, you'd have to change it to have your path. Doesn't the window for you to change it automatically open for you after that message that it's not a proper path?

2) The application should look from either mde's or mdb's.

It says version of the database is -1 because you need to upgrade it. That's why the window opens up asking you to upgrade, doens't it?
